Hi glad to be a member.I have removed the old tank and will bring it to a welder for possible repair. If not was thinking about having a smaller tank built ???.
The leaks seam to be from water trapped between the foam & tank sides. The top & bottom are in good condition, is there a better foam or different way to reinstall & seal water from the tank. Any tips on products needed or installation would be helpfull.
Original tanks are still available from Florida Marine Tanks if you want to go new.
Not much can be done for keeping all water out of a boat or cavity. Some tanks will last longer than others due to whether the boat is kept outdoors or indoors, neglected or taken care of, etc...
If it were me, I would buy a brand new tank and make sure everything was sealed the best way possible to stop water from getting down into the cavity.
It is always a good idea to remove the deck plates when the boat is stored inside or covered for the winter or stored for the off-season. This will help dry out the fuel tank cavity.
