My 2001 150hp merc. is due for new lower motor mounts. I was wondering if anyone knew if it would be possible to install the new bolts (basically in the opposite direction) as the ones from the factory? There appears to be enough room for the nut to be inside the mount cover.
Basically I would prefer to not remove the powerhead and upper mounts just to get the lower mount bolts back in, or out for that matter. I was hoping to just cut the old bolts and install the new ones with the nut facing aft so the nut would then be inside the mount bracket cover.
If anyone has any experience with this I would love to hear from you.
Thanks,
Eric
