We are T minus 68 days and counting. On June 3, we will climb aboard our Boston Whaler and embark on a 1,300 mile voyage, from Norfolk, VA to Boston, MA, where we will arrive for the Fourth of July. Our plan: Rediscover the American Spirit we found 24 years ago, it's out there and we're going to find it
As you will see below, we have set some big goals. We also know there is no way to achieve these heights without help. If you are able to lend a hand, or know someone who could help (six degrees of separation), your assistance would be extremely valuable and greatly appreciated. In addition to a safe voyage:
1. We want to meet President Obama. We will navigate The Whaler up the Potomac River and should arrive in Washington DC on June 7th.
2. Matt Lauer of the Today Show and Jon Stewart from the Daily Show are proud Boston Whaler owners. We would like to the Book into their hands and let them know this summer’s voyage will take us through New York City.
3. We will arrive in New York a week before the Fourth of July with stories of the enduring American Spirit. We believe the message is worthwhile and might interest other major media in New York City. The voyage will be filmed for a television special so we can provide weekly updates as we travel up the east coast.
4. On that note, if you have contacts at local, regional or national media outlets who might have and interest in Only In America and our Search For The America Spirit, please let us know.
5. We want to stage a parade of Boston Whalers and other small boats through Boston Harbor on the Fourth of July, each boat carrying a veteran and a American Flag. Any assistance in organizing this event would be wonderful.

Funny this comes up now. I was wondering what happend and if it was going to happen. I was surprised to see Larry the Cable guy get his own show that is called "Only In Amercica" where he tours around interesting places.
I wonder what John thinks of that? Also woud like to know if there is any way to make a donation towards the trip?

So, I've been wanting to update everyone on Whaler Central but, I have been busy getting sponsors, setting up media etc. Finally check in to post an update and Wa La, this is here. You guys are the best, thanks a bunch.
RE: Larry the Cable Guy, we actually pitched the production company that produced the show. Obviously they liked the idea but decided to go a little different direction. It is what it is and I wish them great success. That being said, we're not changing anything on our end.
Thanks for the offer for the donation. We are developing crew t-shirts and reproducing the original trip t-shirts as well. So, if you want to help out you'll, at the very least, get a t-shirt out of it.
