Im looking to buy a new control box for my 1982 Newport. It has a 1997 Johnson 90 Horse.
Im looking for something that mounts flush an NOT a side mount. Single level. The trim, key, ect can be on the control or not.
Anyone know any control boxes new or used at a reasonable price?
Thanks

This was the cheapest I could find. 269.00.. Not that I want something cheap, but you know what I mean. This has no Key in it. If you want a key in the control price jumps up to 3 to 4 hundred range

Hi Kyle,
How much room do you have on your console to mount the binnacle control box. I ask because the new BRP controls are a bit longer than the older model from OMC and I have seen many consoles that the new control boxes won't fit. Measure the area where the control will go and see which one will work for you. The older boxes ie.1996-2008?+/- will most likely fit. The new box you saw on amazon might not. Be advised that your engine has system check and would require the 1996 and newer wiring (DEUTSCH Connectors) if you got the one with the key and trim switch, unless your engine has an adapter kit for the older wiring in the boat, which if that's the case it is a good time to upgrade. Measure the area and re-post. I will look up the dimensions for both boxes. Then go from there.

Take a look at this article for the OMC/BRP binnacle controls.

Your Newport console can probably handle the newest version of the controls like your link shows but I am not positive.
See the dimensions for the Dual Binnacle here which might be the same except for the width..

Here is a picture of my console that resides in a newport. I did not measure the length from side to side. Only the width from aft to bow. The console where the steering wheel an binnacle mounts is 16 inches wide. Here is a picture of it laying on its side with the top portion that I measured facing you. Those brown spots is filler not holes. I used formula 27 (white) & West System (tan). What dictated the type of filler I used was mainly what substance I had left over when working on something else & wanted to use the rest of it up somewhere.

I found a chrome Morse Binnacle on e-bay for $150. You might give that or a country wide Craigslist search a try.

If so, do you have a johnson motor? Id like to know if it will work with a 1997 Johnson 90 horse
