I am trying to find a bulb for my stern light. It is a two pole bulb that has the normal twist-n pegs, but the poles are only about 20 degrees out of phase with the locking pegs. All that I find in the two pole bulbs have the two poles 90 degrees out of phase with the twist pegs. Any suggestions. Take a look at the fixture if needed.

Disassemble the light socket itself. The base of the socket where the poles are probably out of alignment.

Let me know if you ever figure it out Dave. I have that exact light on my 1974 Montauk and need a bulb number for it.

Can you share with me where you located the original lense for it? Mine is plastic and I would love to have a glass one. I could also use a new ring that holds the lense on.

Yes, we would all like to know what bulb this originally used.
Once we find this info out we can add it to this article.

Can someone with this original light and original bulb tell us the number on the bulb?

I have a bulb but it is burned out and the number is not readable. I am also not 100% sure it is right for the light as the globe seems to have been too hot at some point.

Several stern light bulbs have a 10W, 8 amp rating.
This bulb is for a stern light on an Outrage.

Someone out there has to have an original bulb that is readable.

We just have to find that person who is willing to take a look and let us know.

The bulb that was in mine when I bought it was a GE90. It works.
My globe is plastic. I don't know if the plastic or the glass was the original configuration.

At this time I have added the GE90 to the article listed above.
13V, 8 Watt, 0.58 Amps
Double Contact Bayonet
There seems to be 2 different GE Part numbers for what appears to be the same specification bulb.
I cannot find any difference between the 2 bulbs listed below except for price.

GE 12364 = $3.69
http://www.elightbulbs.com/GE-12364-9...Light-Bulb
and
GE 25794 = 1.69

I had a nice discussion with Sue at Twin Cities today. She is almost certain these light do take the GE 90 and is including one in my order. We also discussed the globe on these lamps and to the best of her recollection BW used an opaque plastic globe such as the one I have rather then a glass one. She is not able to source the plastic globe so the glass will be a good alternative but may be a bit glaring without the opaque property.

No one seems to know the purpose of the cotter pin inserted in to these and all I can come up with is it could be used to safety tie a clip on flag so it does not get blown off and lost. There appears to be no other purpose as it is just a cotter pin doing nothing.

Thanks Tom, I didn't even have to disassemble. I took a screwdriver and was able to rotate back into position.

The cotter pin is for flying a flag.

Gamalot,

Both GE part numbers I gave above are for the GE90 bulb...

Still don't know why one is more expensive than the other and both made by GE with what looks to be the same exact specifications.

Now we all know about the cotter pin.

The stern light on my 1973 Sport has an original bulb. The bulb is marked with AP8 centered above the number 90. My light has the plastic globe and it looks old enough to be original.
Thanks for explaining the mystery hole in the light used to hold the cotter pin.

Thanks BobL, My bulb looks like it could be those numbers indeed. I did get a GE 90 from Sue at Twin Cities and it fits and works. I think BW used a plastic globe on these so the only real question is if the GE 90 bulb might be a bit hot as my plastic does have some deforming from over heating.

I am still looking for someone who has a parts light and is willing to give up the ring that holds the globe in place.

Joe -- I am guessing, but I suspect the difference between the GE 12364 and the GE 25794 bulbs may be that the more expensive one has a chrome plated socket while the other is plain brass.

The bulb in the photo has the chromed socket.
