Mike
I was at our local Boston whaler dealer and asked him about shipping a outrage to Los Angeles. The hundred miles away. He told me that he can arrange that with the boating transportation truck. They used to receive their boats. I guess what I'm trying to say here is, you might try contacting a boating dealer in your area, or the area that the boat is located. I would imagine they can ship boat and trailer, which was my case, or boat only. The only reason I mention this. The dealer told me it was no big deal to get the boat and trailer to Los Angeles. Hundred miles away, but you're transporting further I think I might just call of the dealer. See what they have to say. Since they ship boats all time. Just a thought. Okay, good luck.

That's a tough one Mike. The fellow who owns the property I car for has his car shipped from NY to Florida and back every year. I think it costs him $700 each time. I don't know if a boat on a trailer or not could go on one of these car carrier trucks. I also don't know if there is a snow bird route like there is between NY and Florida every year.

It will be interesting to hear how you get it done and how costly it ends up being.

I had a 30 foot Trojan picked up in Newburgh, NY and hauled to Rochester, NY. 300 miles one way and it cost me $1,000.

Mike,

I know two people who may be able to help, both out of Florida:

Pat Kennedy - 850-230-9577 - Pat's a dive boat captain but run a very good over the road trucking co.

Manuel Canteli - 850-319-2424 - 'Mackey' in addition to his marina, owns an automobile transport co.

Both are good friends and good guys. If they can't help you I'm certain they'd know who could...Ralph

Mike, I checked out some companies to haul my catalina 22 sailboat from kentucky to virginia, and found out for what they charge, it was easier for my son and I to drive it ourselves.
We used a u-haul truck that is well equipped to haul it with a one way rental.
Worked out great, just be careful parking at hotel, its a big rig.

CES, the boat was near Lake Ray Hubbard.

Squallman, There is no way i could have driven there & back for $750.00. I would have spent that in gas. Hotel, food.....not to mention the time away from work.

Wow...ya that lake is the lake that my lake, Lake Lavon, drains into.

Small world.

There's not to many Whalers around these parts.

Sounds like a great find, Mike. For yourself (I hope), or a customer? Let's see some photos of it's current state of condition.

ShowroomTransport. Look them up on the web. They shipped my 1967 Nauset to Metan Marine in MA for refinishing. Everything worked out fine.

A thread of interest. My wife and I live in central MS. We are making the Oinly In America voage this summer. We put in at Norfolk on June 3 and arrive Boston for the 4th of July in our 1963 custom (Currituck). We are in Boston and our truck and trailer are in Norfolk. John Mirassou http://onlyinamerica.biz/ may have a way to move the trailer, but still no truck. Any suggestions?

Uship hands down. They will bid on your shipment, and give you a total cost asessment up front:

http://www.uship.com/

You can check feedback for the carriers, etc. - I have been very pleased. Godspeed!

Thanks Randy, I have used uship before. I can book it myself with the same carriers without paying uship ~$120 for an automated post or 3 min. of their time, if you actually call them. All you have to do is look for ur self.
