Thanks Cliff. I got spit on in the NYC Port authority back in 1973 when I was coming home and just last year they labeled us as "home grown terrorists".

Ya brother, I know what you mean. It's hard to be faithful when our own government labels us and puts veterans on the Terrorist watch list....shameful.
Thank you for your Vietnam era service.
I'm surprised more members didn't chime in on this thread.....

Thank you to all of our veterans for their service and sacifices. IMO you should be the most respected members of this nation and treated as such. Please remember that there are still some of us who hold you in the highest esteem.

A Veteran is someone, who at one point in their life, wrote a blank check payable to the USA for an amount up to, and including, their life. That is beyond honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer remember that fact.

Please see below for the 2010 Veteran’s Day message from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen.
May we all thank and honor the many Veterans across this great nation that have served the cause of freedom that we all enjoy.
By Admiral Mike Mullen
Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff
WASHINGTON November 10, 2010 -
Across our Nation tomorrow, we honor those who have served so nobly in uniform, selflessly defending and protecting America's promise throughout our history.
But that same history teaches us that peace does not preserve itself. It demands effort and pain and sacrifice. It also requires generations of young men and women, willing to deploy to the far ends of the earth to, as one memorial puts it, defend countries "they never knew and a people they never met."
Today, a new generation of GI's has deployed to far-off places and defend people they did not know. War has bloodied them. Loss has tempered them. Great families have sustained them.
Through it all, they have emerged the most resilient, combat-ready force I have seen in my four decades of service. And yet, they continue to look to veterans past -- their predecessors -- for example.
They know they stand on very broad shoulders.
As we enjoy this special holiday, I ask every American to join me in thanking those who have -- for all of us -- stood that treacherous ground and borne that terrible burden: our wounded and missing warriors, their families and the families of the fallen. Please recommit yourselves to supporting them over there and when they come home. They have given us so much, and we owe them so very much in return.
To all our veterans -- past and future -- as well as your families, the Joint Chiefs and I salute you. We will always remember your service and may America always remember its promise to you.

Thanks for the kind thoughts Cliff.
I spent Veterans Day pulling the boat out for the year. It was a cold day for a kayak & boat ride, but it was a beautiful day & a great time.
My brother & I have made this a tradition for the past several years.

Please accept my belated Veteran's Day thank you. Goes out to CES and others that served, including my father.
Ironically, I was at the local military surplus store about two days before Veteran's Day buying my son a genuine issue Cub scouts pocket knife. I saw a really cool Navy hat and my son said I should buy it. I told him I couldn't as I hadn't earned the right to wear it. An older gentleman was standing next to me and thanked me for the respect I was showing and he told my son to pay attention to me. He was wearing a Korean War cap.
I bought the hat and gave it to my Dad as he served in the Navy on a destroyer. When I was checking out, I was really surprised to see you could buy the "class" rings for the different branches of service. It just seems like a lack of respect. Maybe I am over thinking it...
Anyway, thanks again to all branches of service. Thank you for keeping us safe.
