I have a 75 hp elpto 2 stroke and when tilted all the way up it leaks all over the place. I thought it was the oil cap to the oil resevoir since this too is a commom problem I have read about with Mercurys. But after taking a closer look and taking the carbuerator cover off I noticed it was gas/oil mix coming from the bottom carb. I wiped it all off and then I could definatly see it leaking out of the carb. Anyone know why? Is this an expensive fix? Engine seems to run fine, just is really messy when tilted up. Any thoughts from you all would help me out once again.
Thanks in advance.

I'd pull the float bowl off and check the float, needle, and seat to see if there's any damage or issue, especially with the rubber tip on the end of the needle.

Marty, I hope some of the comments were just kidding, ANY fuel leak should be treated with care and repaired prior to pulling away from the dock. If you have never experienced a fire onboard, I can assure you that Boston Whalers unsinkable claim will be proven incorrect. What is left of your boat will surely be on the bottom. I would have it checked by a qualified marine mechanic.
Best of Luck

I don't think anyone who responded so far would kid about something as significant as a fuel leak, not on this site anyway.

It could be the seal on the drain plug if the leak is coming from the bottom of the carb. Could also be that the drain plug is just loose.

Any carb with a full bowl will leak fuel when tilted, why do you think they installed a drip tray on the motor??The tray won't catch all the fuel!
