I have a 2004 40 hp on a 13 with about 20-30 hours on it. The thing runs awesome when it's running right. Unfortunately I have had problems with the carbs. Seems if it sits for more than 3-4 weeks they need to be rebuilt. Not sure if it was a fluke the second time or not, but if I have anymore problems after i get them done again it's going up for sale. I was told by a marine mechanic a lot of the smaller jap outboards have carb issues because the orfices in the carbs are so small and easily plugged up with varnish, dirt etc.

Thanks for the reply. I called the dealer to check the price and I was wrong. The 07 90hp with controls and setup was $7100 out the door. For that price I will go with a yamaha. I see them on to many boats so I konw I can find parts for them. Nissan has a very similar warranty to yamaha as well.

I think your safe either way, i'm hoping to have mine "right" this next trip to the dealer. There was a bad o-ring in the kit last time and i think he just smeared some silicone around it to "fix" it and that "fix" has gone south. Good luck

Hey guys, I just happened to find a Nisson 40 hp for my 13' for $1000.
That seems like a good price but I sure don't want a problem motor.
If anyone has more input, please share yourthoughts.
Thanks.
