Is the "montauk" bowlight with bollards (part # 91-2501A), offered by orcasmarine.com in stainless steel, a direct replacement for the original, and does the replacement "hood" ( part #9102501-1A) use the same hole battery as the original?

Is it a direct replacement? ... well, yes and no. It does fit. But there is quite a bit of space between the front lip (where it goes over the rubrail) and the rubrail itself. I'll see if I can get a picture tomorrow.

Does the -1A part fit on the original BW base (part with the bollards)?

Amazing yes, but not perfectly (see next post). In the pic above, look at the piece 2nd from the left. It has the 3 holes that fit the BW base, even though they are not used in the Orca fixture. However, you may need longer bolts. The bolts from the BW fixture just barely hold it in place.

There is an o-ring under that second piece that I forgot to take out for the picture.

BTW... the bollards of the Orca fixture are welded in place, not separate pieces.
The Orca fixture is also magnetic, meaning there is iron in the metal.
The original BW light is non magnetic.
There are no mounting bolts included with the Orca fixture.

Here's the Orca bowlight on the BW base.

It is attached with the 3 bolts from the BW fixture. The bolts lack about a 1/16 of an inch of being fully threaded through the base.

Also, the light does not perfectly fit in the recessed ring on the base. Maybe a fatter o-ring would help.

jb ... still looking for the "perfect" replacement for the BW bowlight...Smile

Here are the pictiures of the BW, Ebay, and Orca bowlight bases on the bow of a classic 17' Montauk:

As you can see, the original BW light is the best fit. As for me, I haven't decided whether to get the original rechromed, or go with the Orca.

What do you think?
