I made the 100+ mile, five hour run from San Diego to Redondo Beach yesterday in our Montauk. Upon arrival, my wife was their with our boys to pick me up. As she waited for me to step out of the boat, I suggested we cruise a little. She gave me a quizzical look and asked, "are you sure?" We spent the next few hours buzzing around the point and looking at Blue and Minke Whales. Fantastic day.

Back at the dock, I suggested we order a pizza and harbor cruise. After proclaiming, "you've been on The Whaler for over nine hours" my wife suggested I may need professional help.

My wife thinks we all have a problem. She even told her mother this when we ran into another WC member at a boat ramp in Georgetown SC last summer. Quote "Mom, these guys are a bunch of nuts."

Sounds like it's time for the bumper sticker... "You wouldn't understand, it's a Whaler thing."

So, I read aloud all your replies . . . my wife just put a blanket and pillow on the couch. I'll never understand women.

As long as she's mad at me I might as well take advantage of the opportunity and spend some time on the water.

You know, that is a GREAT idea. I think I might just have a few of those made up. If you promise not to sue me for copyright infringement, I'll sent you a couple for the doughnut.

I guess I'm lucky - my only problem is my wife wants to go out too much! I'm waiting on a replacement set of throttle/shifter cables and she's getting antsy. She calls the Whaler our mini vacation everytime we're out.

I bought an old coke machine so that I can fill up the cooler faster with ICE COLD soda, I don't have to stop for soda or ice on the way down to the boat in the summer (more boating time), now that's "sick" !

Funny thing here...it seems I always have either...a Whaler or a wife....hmmmmmm! I'm keepin' the Montauk it's happy wherever I take it and doesn't gripe about the restaurant choice (gas dock) or Christmas gift (oil change and wax).

Good for you Ralph.
Should we all be so blessed with the leisure time and water attraction shared by you today.
May this time in your life be filled with great boating memories.

Guys, a great post, and i guess the bottom line is enjoying your Whaler whether its bringing up a young guy or gal and sharing the adventure, or a wife or companion that enjoys the same contentment on being out on the water, but the added enjoyement of the Whaler history and being part of the Whaler family its all good. We had a great time this last weekend with folks from Houston, Dallas, Austin, local etc, with only one thing in common, we all owned Whalers.

and yes, i'm single too, but i'm hangin out for Kamie, as she and i would be a good team, with her handling the electronics! Smile
