Trip to Florida, from NC, and find this...13' Whaler Sport
I drove from NC to Palm Bay Florida to buy an 11' Whaler. While spending a night in St Augustine, I found a 13' Sport in Gainesville Florida, nice! Couldn't get two boats home, so put a deposit on the 13', and pulled the 11' home to NC. Drove back down to Florida a couple of weeks later and picked up the 13' and headed home again! Sold the 11' Whaler and falling in love with the 13'. This is a 1985 13' Sport, with a 40hp Evinrude. Original wood console replaced with a fiberglass unit, but hull and original gel coat in remarkable shape !!! I am VERY pleased with this purchase. I have already bought a Magic Tilt ALUMINUM trailer to replace this galvanized trailer ! This is my first Whaler, and I hope to never be without one !! I tried to upload photo, cannot figure it out !!!
Need to upgrade the motor with a unit with power trim...any suggestions?? Love to find a Yamaha 50hp with trim, any ideas or leads in or near NC?
Engine weight is a big issue on the older 13' whalers. I have a 1988 Yamaha 40 2-S with pwr TnT and the boat runs 37 mph on GPS. The static trim is perfect and the boat runs flat and true.
