I have a 1993 22' outrage and my 250 yamaha has blown up. I am wanting a 2 stroke and am asking if anyone has a 150 on this model ? I have found a new 2 stroke 150 yamaha and possibly a 200. Does the 150 do anything for this boat?thanks

I think it all depends on what you're looking to use the boat for and what you expect performance wise. Can you give some specifics?
I've spoken to a few people with 150 Etec's on their 22's and they've been very happy, but weren't looking to run heavily loaded, for strong acceleration, or for top speed.

I'm in the same boat, so to speak, what about twin merc 50/60 4 strokes. the Bigfoots look like they might do the job? I'm looking to troll and am not thrilled with the kicker idea, aesthetics not too appealing.
any thoughts?

I have an engine bracket on my 22' Outrage so it may not be apple to apples but I am powered by twin 115 Evinrude Fichts. 50/60 Twins will be tough to get the boat on plane if it is even possible at all. I have come back home from Catalina (26 mile run) on one engine and it took forever to get on plane but would go about 19 kts at a high RPM.
I have no data on a 150 HP on a 22' Outrage, but I think the boat will plane with a speed in the low 20's.
If I have to re-power, I will be looking seriously at twin 130 ETEC's.

Hi Guys, I have a 150 hp ETEC on my 22 ft Whaler - It tops out about 35/36 mph with 3/4 fuel and 2 people on board. It cruises nicely abt 25 mph at 4/4200 rpm (speeds by gps). The fuel economy is amazing compared to the old 2 strokes.
