Need to move a Whaler from the midwest to the NW in March.

Any names you can recommend of haulers you have used? Thanks

Try posting on uship.com - I have used that service and you would be surprised the variation you get in bids. Just be sure to get references from whoever you choose.

What size is the boat? Is it on a trailer?

I had an Outrage Cuddy 22 and trailer shipped from Everett, Wa to St. Paul, MN in 2000. I think this is the company - http://www.boattransport.com/. They charged $1500 dealer to dealer. Had to have a hoist on this end to unload (another $50 or so).

At the time $1500 reflected a considerable discount compared to the other quotes I received. This was due to my flexibility in setting the shipping date. I agreed to wait until a trucker was going to deadhead or had a less than full load (LFL). This extended the transport time by roughly 2 weeks but it worked for me.

This is something we see asked occasionally but don't get many follow-ups. Please let us know how things go for you.

Thanks for the lead! i moved a 17'boat on a trailer from South Fla to the nortwest and it went very smoothly( i think i paid about $1600) and was flexible as well.

I'm having a hell of a time getting quotes: started last week and have only received 2 quotes both were extremely high. I'll keep trying, maybe it is the bad weather that most of country has right now.

The one thing i have noticed is that they want to add a fuel surcharge on top of the price at the time of pickup! Can't get an answer as to what this sucharge is and how much: worried that this is a big number they add and won't pickup your boat if you don't pay.

Hope this works ou!

Mike, i followed your lead and got a good quote from your guy. I think we might have a deal. They use a fuel surcharge of 11% of the total and they adjust the surcharge based on fuel costs.

They really seem to have their act together.

Update on the boat hauling saga. I am finding that most haulers responding are not legal ie do not have interstate permits or insurance.DOT will not allow a haul w/o permits and will seize the load!

I'm having a tough time finding someone!

I am sorry to hear about this development.

How / where did you learn that most haulers are doing business illegally? This could be a big problem. Accurate information about this could really be a big help to alot of people in need of boat transportation.

Thanks for keeping us updated.
