I have a 1999 90HP Mercury 2-stroke engine on my 1981 Montauk. It looks like at least two of the ignition cables need to be replaced - the rubber boot that covers the end that clips onto the spark plug is torn on the top cable, and the middle is looking a bit rough too. The bottom one is fine. I think the upper two may have taken a beating when the engine cover has been removed and banged into them.
Anyway, it looks like there's an individual coil for each cylinder so it's not easy to just replace the cables. Does the whole coil and cable assembly have to be replaced together or is there a way to just replace the cable? I didn't remove the coil from the side of the engine but there's no obvious way to swap just the wire from the side that faces out.
