Does anyone know what model Morse control came originally installed on the 1988 Montauk 17' ? Any information about this control will be appreciated. Thanks
Ive been using a pair of twin handle Morse controls daily on my Tug for over 20 years. Replaced the cables once...about due for another replacement.
Fresh water use.
The downside of a single handle control is the placement and configuration of the throttle release button and the controls are harder to adjust than twin lever.
Certainly the single lever eliminates "dropping the clutch" or pulling the eng in/out of gear at the wrong RPMs and they can be dialed in very tight. My sport boat has single lever controls & is more user friendly for others.
I prefer the smooth transition & solid feedback between fwd/rev & no gap or delay in the throttle responce from twin lever.
