The boat originally had twin 150 Yamaha installation.
1999 it was repowered with Johnson 250 Ocean Pro engine.
I have owned the boat since 2005.
The boat does 34 knots at 4700 rpm at full throttle. (engine spec says 250 hp at 5700) Three years ago I had it runnning 41 knots. The Ocean pro has idle problems (stops) which makes it stressfull to manouver in narrow ports in Norway, and has been unreliable at occations.
I have now gone through the boat and it is now in very good condition.
I now consider a twin Evinrude E-tec 150 installation.
However, The capasitiy plate says 240hp.
What do you think?
1. Am I just not managing my old engine well enough?
2. What do I risk by installing more engine than teh capasity plates indicate?
3. If yes, could I even consider larger engines? (the E-tec 175 and 200hp weigh the same as the 150hps)
