I am going to be building a mahogony seat for my 67 Eastport. I have the drawings, thanks to the site, but was wondering what actual dimensions people are putting in their boats. At 40 inches wide it seems too wide. What about the seat height?
Thanks Joe, yes the standard mahogony seat that is on some of the models on the page here. I Have the Eastport and an original pic shows it with the mahogony seat (not swingback) and the rear seat which I plan on putting on it also. I'll be mounting the two 12 gallon tanks under the console seat to give me the clearance and space on the back for the rear seat. I think it'll work out nice. Just wish the spring would come to New England.
Andy,
Please remember that the pilot seat is that wide to match up to the embedded structural wood in the hull. The wood locating diagrams are available here.
If you want the seat narrower you would have to modify the cleats to still find the mounting points....and you might not get your tanks under the seat.
