Now that I have a few hours on this motor (on my 13' Whaler Sport) I have a few more question:
1. It seems to use 1.5 gallons per hour (give or take depending on sea conditions, load, speed) Is this a lot, a little or about right?
2. I have checked the oil injection tank from time to time and it appears to use very little oil. I've put at least 4 tanks (approx 5 gallons/tank). I cannot even see the oil level since I filled the tank. Before that I could clearly see the level. Do these motors use very little oil?
3. Max top speed (on flat water) seems to be 36mph according to the GPS. Is this typical, high or low for this boat/motor combination?
The motor will use at least 50 gallons of gas to one gallon of oil. 36 mpg is not bad for the size motor. Contact some other members and see what they get for gas useage on that motor.
