I recently spoke to a sales rep. at the Brunswick Commercial & Government manuafacturer, who informed me that they will soon stop the production of the "classic" 15 alert. The 17' Alert is already out of production. Instead they are selling the new Mountauk 17' hull.
Anyway, my question:
Does anyone know if the 15' Alert will be manuafactured with the phenolic material placed at all the standard locations as indicated on the Drawings, which can be downloaded from the folowing site:

I have called the sales rep. at Brunswick Commercial & Government , to find out about this but one week later and still no answer.
Reason is, that I would like to locally install a side rail, but I need to know for sure if there will be phenolic installed at the location where this railing normally would be attached with machine screws, since I ordered the boat without the side rail from the factory.
Are you wanting to install a side rail (dive rail) on the outside of the hull or a hand rail on the side of the cockpit? If is is a hand rail you would be able to mount one with out the backing. If you are looking to install a dive rail on the exterior of the hull you would not be able to mount it securely. Those had to be install by the factory and extra backing was added in the hull during the lay up.
Also, you should contact Chuck bennett at whaler. He is the best about getting answers to prople in a timely manner.
I meant the railing as can be seen on the following web link:

It's the railing which is used to hold yourself when driving the boat.
I would like to mount a customized railing which will also have the additional function of supporting a backrest.
