Assuming that it checks out with a service shop, what is a ball park price for this vintage in the Pacific Northwest? Will it fir the same mounting holes as my 1984 Johnson 60HP/ Thanks Patrick

Member Personal Page Posts: 408 Comments: 3 Joined: 06/07/07	Generally speaking the Yamie are very releible solid runners. The very early models (pre 1990s) were prone to shift shaft failure. Believe it or not they did not use stainless steel for some reason. I have also heard that Yamies are sensitive to temperature but I have not experienced any problem (knock wood) I have an 1989 90 HP and runs like new. They changed very little since they were introduced in the states in 1984. Production for US ended this year for 90 2 stroke... Things to look at closely are the same as other outboards, compression, lower unit, salt or fresh water use, test the PTT, how well does it idle, and general appearance under the cowl... Are you looking to buy this from a dealer, can it be started/demo'd? I will not buy without taking it to a dealer/ service shop, for a evaluation. The year that I am looking at is a 95. The asking price is 2500. Is that price in the ball park? Dumb question, but were the motors made in Japan or the US? Cheers Patrick

Are the controls and gauges included, I would expect them at price?
