I have a '92 70hp Mercury on my 15' supersport and would like to plan a repower. Anyone repower with the Yamaha or any other manufacturers jet outboards? just a thought for shallow water and I was wondering about performance, pros/cons on a whaler.

Con on any boat used to be 20-30% power loss, but maybe they're more efficient now?

They also suck up a lot a crap off soft bottom in shallow water.

The jet drive itself is a limitation, you can't really fine tune it like you can a prop. It wouldn't be my first choice unless it was a super deal. I would be interesed seeing some performance data though.

Thats what I was wondering. I know they are not as efficient power wise, but just wondering how they would push my 15, with better shallow water use too.
