Hello All,
I'm very excited about my new project.
I put deposit down on Revenge which has made some rounds between Whaler Fanatics. The boat belonged to a couple in the midwest and when the husband died the wife apparently let the boat sit. It has less than 500n hours on it and the boat appears to be in what I would consider to be very good "original" condition. It is said to have been in service from 1977 to 1985. A gentleman in New York found it and trucked it to New York sometime last year. He realized(from what I've been told) after an attempt to get boat running that the 302 ford block was cracked. He then put it up for sale and a man in Florida purchased the boat. He has too many projects, so he listed it here on the forum and I decided to buy it.
Scott(the man in Florida) is a stand up guy, as he allowed me to put a non-refundable deposit down and as soon as Uncle Sam sends me my tax money, (by the first week in feb)I will pay the rest. The engine is shot and Scott directed me to an expired e-bay listing in which another gentleman was selling a running 1988 302 190HP ford (still in boat in Connecticut) that was freshwater run, which I have already purchased. Both of these purchase were from viewing photos only, but the integrity of both the selling individuals is evident and I really did not have many reservations.
I recently sold my 1987 Montauk and this particular Revenge will suit my needs perfectly.
For informational purposes the Revenge was sold for $3,000.00 and the engine was sold for $600.00. I will have the boat shipped from Florida once I give Scott the balance. I then will either have the man selling the engine install it or I will attack it myself.
Here is a link for viewing photos of boat and used engine I'm buying:

I watched the sale of that boat and was surprised it took so long to sell. But I got to say that thing wants a yanmar diesel in the worst way.
Congrats on the boat!

Congratulations Bret! That's a great boat, and will be right at home on Buzzards Bay.Keep it once you get it. It's fairly rare, and appears to be in excellent condition. Looks like one weekend for the engine swap, and one weekend of elbow grease, and you'll have a fine classic. Good lookin' boat.
Don't ever forget either....you stole it!!!
Best Regards-Jeff

Thanks Guys
I'm really looking forward to getting it. I sold an 87 Montauk recently with the intentions of going with a mid-eighties outrage 18 footer. I was watching this boat on continuous wave and was surprised no-one snagged it. I understand that this is not a typically sought after set up for a whaler, but it will be perfect for my wife, daughter, dog and myself. I can (if money allows) always find a mid eighties outrage, but I have not noticed many Revenges like this one out this way.
I understand the hull on this craft is significantly better as far as wave handling is concerned versus the Montauk. It's a really neat looking whaler as well. It was also a great deal.

Congrats again Brett! I have a 1978 21 Revenge, nice to see another bannana cuddy on here.If you could do me a small favor when you get a chance,i'd really like some detailed pictures of all the cuddy and berth parts. The guy that had my boat was tall and BIG,so he removed all the cross pieces, supprorts, berth fillers, cushions etc so he could get in there. He cut up the wood and burned it all up. So i just want to see the factory layout and see how i need to do mine. Thanks and can't wait to see that baby all cleaned up and on the water.

buchanan,
Yes....
You need to point to an image you have somewhere on the Internet and then put that link between the [img][/img] tags.....
Or, create your own Personal Page here on this site and upload your photo(s) and then put a link to your photo using the [url] [/url] with your link in between the [url] [/url]
