In addition to the Coast Guard plate stating a horsepower limit of 40, my 130 sport has an plate below the CG plate which specifies an engine weight limit of 225 lbs. Interestingly, the the Merc 40 4-stroke that came from the factory weighs 233 lbs according to the plate on it, despite the fact that the brochure says 216 lbs. Anyway, I'm wanting to repower with a 40hp E-Tec which weighs 240 lbs. Should I be concerned? Will a dealer refuse to install the motor?
