Hi all-
I'm new to this forum and the Whalers new to me. I'm having trouble locating a vintage users manual for the outboard or for the boat for that matter. I've had some problems out of the box- I'm also new to power boating (in this size). The motor would die after running for about 10-15 min. below 1500 rpms. After 30-45 min I was able to bury the throttle with no problem. I'm thinking that I'm not warming-up properly with the lever starboard the throttle. Also, I need to know more about speed & motor trim-(not trim tabs) and how they affect steering. The Bombardier site who currently has the Johnson rights only has literature back to 2004. So, any info or links to user guides appreciated.

Hi and welcome. Ken Cook company is the source of old Evinrude/Johnson factory manuals. Check http://www.outboardbooks.com. The website organization is clumsy, so don't give up, your manual will be there. Search for your motor by horsepower or model number for best results. I got the OEM service manual for my 1987 Evinrude 225 there. It's proven to be extremely useful. Good luck.
