Ed, I have the standard two 12 gallon tanks but I can also carry a portable 5 gallon tank in my front cooler if need be. I was assuming I would be able to refuel at some point (I will need to). I have a thirsty carbed 90hp. Round trip looks to be about 106 miles, figured I could make it about half way but would like to refuel prior to the 10:30 meeting. Any thoughts or advice?
Thanks, Josh

I would really love to go, but I dont know if Im going to be ready on have all the kinks worked out by then. I live on the south shore of Long island so I was thinking of launching in kings point or somewhere or in the great neck area. Anyone going to be launching near there? Has anoyone thought of possibly stopping at Chealsea Piers at the Marine Max Whaler dealer?? I wonder if they would be receptive?

Until I can get up to Maine and work on my trailer, my boats not moving anywhere any time soon. Anybody looking for a couple of stow aways! Do Whaler's have a steerage?
Sounds like a great time!

Luckydog, if you're coming down the hudson like me, there are a few stops for fuel. There is one in NJ about 2 miles north of the GWB on the westside of the hudson. I would guess there are some more stations south of the GWB. I will be leaving Nyack at the Tappan Zee Bridge around 0900 hrs. I have a 27 gal tank which should be plenty for the trip.

Harley, I was going to leave from LI because I have folks there who can watch the baby and it is closer (by water) than leaving from Kingston. Trailering south is a posibility though. What is the launch ramp situation in Nyack?

I am hoping to launch from Peekskill on the Hudson but I am not sure if I will have the boat ready.
Lucky Dog the Peekskill launch is easy and plenty of parking if you want to launch from there.
If I am not ready is it possible to sign on as a deck hand?

Howard, Already have another couple on board, but thanks. Sounds like you need a couple of "sick days" to get your boat ready.

Lucky, the Nyack ramp has a decent amt of parking. I've never seen it full. The ramp is new and straight forward. It is free now, but the rate is $20 after Memorial day.

Thanks Harley, If I decide not to leave from LI I will meet up with you down there in Nyack. I was going to trailer to LI so that we could leave our baby with her grandparents for the day, she's a bit young for such a long boat ride. I have to break her in slowly, @ 24 inches she can't see over the console yet.

Jim,
Is there a complete list of people that are participating?
Has the final date(s) been set?
You never know who might want to show up at the last minute........

Joe, this one is difficult to count ! It's been out there on 3 sites for awhile now. I recieve countless e-mails from all over the place daily...who knows ? A request for "roll call " didn't amount to anything here, wish I knew how to get an accurate count . The date is June 7th, plans are to gather in the waters of the Statue of Liberty at 10:30 AM , we'll see ! Any help, ideas in coming up with a way to confirm participants would be great. I come up with 24 boats that I know of for sure, we'll see when we get there. Jim

It would be cool if you made it to NYC for that weekend Joe.
By the way, I´m flying in from the Netherlands for this event.

Although we are unable to provide an accurate count as to numbers of vessels participating I can offer up new info. USCG Sector Manhattan has identified this event and is looking towards providing escort vessels. To think from a daydream on a cold rainey day in Febuary we have now attracted the Factory and the government !!

The flotilla was contacted by Marine Max of Lindenhurst today, they asked to participate in our event and plan to bring out a 32 Outrage and other "goodies". With this addition and 12 new vessels joining us this week we can now with confidence state that this will be the largest EVER collection of Boston Whaler boats in one place !!!!

Wow, just found this! I'm going to do all I can to try and make this trip in my 170 Montauk.
I used to be a guide in the harbor, and I did the 2 hour tours around Manhattan for NY Waterway, the trip is a blast.
Hell gate isn't a big deal, just watch for traffic and take the whirlpools slower than faster, and be sure to stay south of the green? day board off Randalls Island. Lot's of really big rocks lurking just below the surface on the RI side.
As mentioned the RR bridge along the Hudson will need to be notified but it sounds like the escort will probably handle that...
Wow, sounds great. I'll be launching in Norwalk. Where and when would the nearest rendezvous for me to hook up with some of you guys headed for the statue? Mamaronek? What time?
I'm going to need to think about fuel...
One more thing. The East River and Harbor in general can get real snotty just from traffic, add a little weather..., I'm thinking the earlier the better for the trip in.
Boy I hope I can pull this off.

Don't plan on the CG escort making the proper notifications for you (ie the RR bridge). They might do it, but they aren't associated with the bridge operator anymore than the typical boater, and they'll probably assume the flotilla has made the appropriate notifications yourself.

As of today we're Official and recognized by the City of New York, permits have been filed with the Coast Guard and a float plan provided to the NYPD Marine Division.

This morning we recieved a call from the USCG requesting we notify the flotilla that Flare Guns are not permitted in New York Harbor, the possession of such items will result in a hefty fine ! We were also contacted by Mr. Phil Wolhar,Director of Marketing for MarineMax N.E., he has promised to supply our Flagship for the event, a 345 Conquest with triple 275 Verados !!,more Tee-shirts and trinkets as well ! Metro-North has also communicated with excitement over the event offering 100% support with opening bridges as we pass, With that being said and knowledge of 100+ confirmed participants welcome to the largest ever collection of Whalers anywhere !!!!
