The other dayt I recieved an email stating that the PFD I ordered was on back order. Today I get a notification from Defender with a UPS tracking number....I guess I'll have my new PFD by next Wednesday.

Defender doesn't mess around. I got my two vests yesterday, as did my bro-in-law. That's about 2 day delivery. They are indeed really boatiful. All we need it Spring! Darn all this snow!

Well, this type of PDF fits kind high when I'm use to the full body constriction of a Type III.

Something to get use to I suppose after a water sports vest.

I certainly like it for the price and I'll always be able wearing something for sure now rain, heat or humidity.

The temptation to jump in for a test is going to be hard to resist but at what cost....$20+? Maybe, not so hard to resist.

Darn nice quality - recommended while supplies last.

I ordered a pair of them myself. HH seems to make quality products in my experience and at 60 a pop theyre well below others. I too got the "backorder" email as I ordered them on saturday night. We will see if they show.

The comfort will improve with a little use as the vest begins to sort of contour fit your body and the materials soften a little.

I received all of mine today and again thankful for the heads-up on the sale as I had nearly $400 invested in my two original inflatable PFD's from a few years ago.

I recieved my HH PFD in the mail yesterday. I'm happy with it as it seems to have been constructed well and of good quality.

After reading this thread I went online to Defender and ordered one HH auto inflation and two HH adult sport type III PDF's. The prices were too good to pass up. The inflatable takes the same refill kit as several of the other popular brands so I'm not concerned about the closeout by HH of the PFD division. I have always wanted an inflatable but just couldn't let go of the cash. I have had HH foul weather gear for many years so I am not concerned about the quality of the PDF's. I will post again after I examine the merchandise.

Well, the UPS guy brought my package the other day from Defender. The mdse quality was as expected. No disappointments here. Can't beat the price.

I too received my pfds from Defender and am more than happy with them! The quality is top notch and they are more comfortable than others I have tried. I would jump on these if there are any left. I think they bought somewhere in the neighborhood of 8000 pieces but I bet there arent nearly that many left! I also received the NRS chinook vest and I really like that as well for a non inflatable option. Lots of pockets and it contours nicely to the body as it is a paddlers vest. Thanks again for all your input and the tip at Defender. Jumps on those if you can!

flat days!

That's awesome this worked out. I pondered it a while longer and the savings are just too good as well as the space savings aboard, so I went back for two more here due tomorrow. Helly Hansen is top notch stuff after all. Only manual ones remained but they'll also serve well all the same.

Now all we need is all this white stuff to melt and at the very least a glimmer/hope of Spring.

Just make sure you still have all the required PFD's of the appropriate type on-board to satisfy current USCG carriage requirements for the number of passengers. I don't know if its changed recently but manually inflated PFD's (type V) only count if they're actually being worn.

I've never really been absolutely clear on inflatable PFD's and get different answers depending on who I ask such as Coast Guard Auxiliary or Florida FWC. Even when I wear my auto inflatables (type II), I still stow type I PFD's for everyone. I've been told auto-inflatable type II and type III don't have to be worn to count for the minimum USCG requirements but when I ask again another time, I'm told they still must be worn at all times. Some personnel responsible for enforcement don't seem to fully understand the current minimum requirements in regards to inflatables.
