I didn`t vote, because I don`t really have a favorite brand. It would be whatever motor fits my needs. I just bought a new 25 Merc, 4-Stroke FI, SHORTSHAFT remote engine. Now I am not a Merc fan by any stretch of the imagination. I bought this Merc because after investigation I found it is really a Tohatsu-Nisson, from the propnut to the flywheel. and they have a very good reputation, and Nisson-Tohatsu-Merc 25,30 hp are the only shortshaft motors still being built with remote control, as far as I know. You can buy a $300 kit to convert a shortshaft Yamaha 25 to a remote engine, but why bother. Also the motor is manufactured and assembled in Japan, not manufactured here and assembled in Mexico or China. If I voted, I would vote other. It is all very confusing, when it comes to the smaller motors. I think a longshaft outboard looks awkward on an early 13` Whaler.
OMC/BRP was in the lead for the first couple of weeks. After that, many new members voted on the Yamaha which brought it in the lead.
The other motors didn't even get 1/2 as many votes as Yamaha or OMC/BRP.
All motors are good but as you can see, the 2 choices among the members here are; Yamaha and OMC/BRP by quite a large margin.
