Most Whaler dealers mount motors very low to be on the safe side. I know of 5 owners who got incorrect mounting/prop advice. Shop prices for props online, you can probably find the exact one for a lot less and use the research to negotiate a lower price from the dealer.

I have a friend that used to compete and had some speed records in the sixties. He alway tried to convince me to raise the engine as much as possible. But I'm not looking for max speed so good handling is my priority. Also like to do some waterskiing once in a while. I'm not to worried about the propeller pitch as I can change it if it's wrong. Should the rpm be exactly at max when boat is not loaded (one peson). Or should it be a little bit lower to have some margin. I think the max rpm is 6200. I will probably come back with this question when I got the boat in the water next spring.
