Yes, it is a straight spindle. It's a 1985 Long (brand) galvanized trailer; they're out of North Carolina. For it's age, it's in good shape, Problem is I haven't been able to find an active Web site yet for them, so I'll need to call them to see if they can provide some information about my trailer,
Per the instruction manual for the new kit, it fits a straight spindle. Yet, again, per the instruction manual, the inner/outer bearings have a slightly diffeernt diameter. Seems odd. So, we'll see when it comes how it works out.
I agree with you. It makes sense. What doesn't make sense is how the kit is described as being for a "straight" spindle. Yet, the 2 diameters are different. 1+1 doesn't = 3. I'll let you know what I learn!
Yes, it would seem to me that if the outer bearing has a smaller inner diameter than the inner bearing does, then it must be tapered or stepped down in size.
Can get confusing sometimes and we want to make sure you are ordering the correct parts/sizes....
