Great advice Joe. Will do.

Yes, it is a straight spindle. It's a 1985 Long (brand) galvanized trailer; they're out of North Carolina. For it's age, it's in good shape, Problem is I haven't been able to find an active Web site yet for them, so I'll need to call them to see if they can provide some information about my trailer,

Per the instruction manual for the new kit, it fits a straight spindle. Yet, again, per the instruction manual, the inner/outer bearings have a slightly diffeernt diameter. Seems odd. So, we'll see when it comes how it works out.

Just things to consider.

If you axle is straight 1 1/6" diameter, then the inside diameter of both bearings should be 1 1/16"...

However, that does not mean that the outer diameter of both bearings needs to be the same.

Keep us informed on what you find out.

I agree with you. It makes sense. What doesn't make sense is how the kit is described as being for a "straight" spindle. Yet, the 2 diameters are different. 1+1 doesn't = 3. I'll let you know what I learn!

Thanks!

Here is one that has 1 1/16" for the inner and outer bearing.

Yes, it would seem to me that if the outer bearing has a smaller inner diameter than the inner bearing does, then it must be tapered or stepped down in size.

Can get confusing sometimes and we want to make sure you are ordering the correct parts/sizes....

Joe -- Thanks! That is the ones I ordered, except in the 4", 4-bolt/hole configuration. Fingers crossed it works!
