76 saturday, just got the news they cancelled school again tomorrow. Current temperature is 10. Expecting -2 in the morning, Wow, we got a record snowfall, 10 inches where I live and drifts almost 24, Almost got the Jeep stuck trying to pull a pickup out of the ditch. Had to drive a little over 1/4 mile in the bar ditch dodging fence poles just to get back on the road. Only went one mile and saw 5 cars and trucks in the ditch, Be glad when it gets back up in the 50's. I caught one fish on saturday, trolling for stripers. It was a shad, what the stripers usually eat, did not think i could catch one on a lure. Weird. Boat started and ran well, after being garaged for 2 months. Hope to get back on the lake before the end of February, I have been stupid and went swimming here at that time.

Today is the third day in a row that the schools have been closed. The roads are still iced up bad around here and the weather guessers are forecasting another inch of snow today. The temps haven't gone above 19F for three days now and won't go above freezing until Saturday. Just great........I'm so ready for spring!!

We ended up with about 24 to 30 inches of snow, which made for real interesting snow blowing. My blower looked like a submarine at times, with the chute being the only thing visible as it dug a snow cave. Then I'd have to knock the ceiling down so that I could clear the drive. Our neighborhood has not been plowed since this started on Tuesday, so needless to say we are stranded. I guess it doesn't matter as everything is closed anyway. Temperature outside is -6 F. Did I mention that I hate winter?

I've been keeping good thoughts for my fellow Whaler-holics as well as all my fellow Americans dealing with the awfully cold weather. hang in there and try to stay warm. Thanks for the Indiana picture.

It took me two hours to chop a walking path through the ice to the garage yesterday so I could check on the boat. I was beginning to have Whaler withdrawal symptoms.

It's finally happend, next door neighbor used the snowblower last night and covered what was left of my whaler. Please can we have a few weeks without snow!! I promise I'll clean her out and get her covered. Never have I seen snow like this. I live on the water and usually I get 4 inches and 3-miles inland they get a foot.

It's still pretty chilly here although I hate to tell you guys...Its suppose to be in the 60s tomorrow and Sunday! I think everyone who isn't already sick will be after this rollercoaster ride of temperatures. I just hope this February isn't as bad as last February...We had like two weeks straight of temperatures that never got above 40. I know I know...look at the pictures right. I can't wait for Spring!!!!

I know down here in SW GA we are by no means having what many of you are having this winter. But with all the posts, I thought I would chime in.

Mostly in the 40's here today and windy and cold rain all day. More tomorrow, but Sunday we get a little break. Then as the Weather Guy said on tonight's news, Next week colder and wetter. Agh!!!

I have an aluminum LeanTo to put up so I can work on my boat and keep it out of the direct sunlight to help protect the wood work. (Although Direct Sunlight would be a blessing right now Wink. I can't even get out and dig the pole footers in the cold rain and mud.

Oh well, Spring will come eventually.

Wow !!! you guys have been getting pounded for sometime in the North. I feel guilty mentioning what a beautiful day my family and I had with our Dauntless yesterday crusing on Biscayne Bay, Miami FL.

Conditions were 5 - 8 knot winds, bay waters smooth to light chop, water temp about 75 - 80F. We certainly will never have the type of weather you guys are suffering there but, small boating conditions down here have not been the best for a while now.

I say small boats like my 15 footer. The bay chop gets pretty rough on us and gets compounded with the larger boating traffic. Unfortunately we have alot of idiots down here with the go-fast boats that are not mindful of their smaller bretheren.

Well I wish you all to stay safe and to have warm thougths regarding your Whalers.

Yesterday I went to the lake, searching for some sign of spring. Here's what I found:

Hard to imagine that I'll be splashing the boats in 2 short months.

In that first picture, it appears that there's a sailboat out there next to the lighthouse. Was that the case? Lol....if it were...those are some hard core crazies!!

Actually, it's a channel marker that is encased in ice!!!

The lake is frozen as far as the eye can see, but I imagine that if you had a ice boat, some fun could be had.

A channel marker? Wow.....that is amazing. Like you said earlier...it's hard to believe that you'll be possibly splashing the Whaler in two months time by looking at those pictures.

We are under another winter storm warning here in Dallas for freezing rain, ice and 2"-6" of snow tonight and into tomorrow morning. As you guys know from the Super bowl fiasco, we're getting hit pretty hard with winter weather this year in Dallas......the likes of which we have not seen in 20 years. This isn't unusual weather.....it's a typical weather cycle we're going through......about every 20 years or so.

Aw come on, Christina wasn't that bad was she? Or did you mean the Black eyed peas? Either would pass for a disaster I suppose, after considering it further.....

Sorry about your weather though, that makes it really tough when you live in an area that is not used to that kind of snow. Just think, two weeks ago, you were on the water fishing. Amazing how things change back and forth. Let's hope for an early spring.
