39.7 on GPS, 69 nauset with a 88 SPL. Tried lie heck to get 40 or more, but with no tilt and trim not gonna happen.
One thing I found funny was that I could actually get a half mph or so more speed when moving the wheel back and forth ever so clightly while running at speed. It reall felt faster, especially with a bit of chop. Anyone else notice this?
I cruise 35 or so and that is fine with hme.

I have a Montauk 17 ft 1989 with a 2006 Etec 90hp. This boat will do 44 mph with me alone in boat. I am 215lbs. With someone else also in the boat like my daughter 120 lbs 40 mph maybe.

27.6 mph with me and momma onboard on a calm day. Hole shot is sluggish. May need to change prop to get a better hole shot. Wish my old motor had TNT

A tic over 44 mph so far with me a buddy and full tank of fuel at 30 gallons. Still a bit of chop that day. White knuckles for me for sure.
I'm curious to run her with just me aboard and maybe a half tank of fuel with cooler weather and smooth water. Just seems every time I get her out in water with no speed limit, its a bit rough. I'm limited to 25 mph in most of the intercoastal near where I keep the boat.

1988 Montauk with an 1989 Yamaha 90, me @ 250 and 12 gallons of fuel- only 35 mph.....
BUT, that is also at 5000 feet above sea level....I live in Colorado. Does this sound about right?? If I trim up much more she starts to porpus....

44 m.p.h. with a 13 ft. 4 inch 1970 Whaler with 50 h.p. Yamaha 2 stroke using a 15 inch 3-blade prop and 2 people in the back to keep it a little bit stable. Much more fun in surf though. It's not all about speed. Surfing the down-sides of big waves is where the small Whalers are a gas.
