Boy, don't I feel lucky today! Stumbled on this thread and it took about two seconds to decide that I'll be cruising around Manhattan this Saturday.
We're in a 1966 13 footer with a 30hp motor. We got it last summer and have been out about a dozen times. All on the Sound except once a couple of weeks ago on Candlewood Lake. It's always a blast...well, there was the one barge run-in on a windy day under the Throgs Neck Bridge but, that's a story for another time.
Any suggestions on the best place to put our boat in? We're not against trailering over to Liberty State Park or thereabouts if that's the best option.
We're really looking forward to it!
Sean

It's 4:30 AM and I'm up and anxious to go.
I'll be heading for Bar Beach boat ramp - Port Washington, NY in one hour.
This is going to be fun.

Well it's 1614 hrs and I got back from the ride. It was a little rough in lower Manhattan bay. Aside from the rough waters downtown it was a great day. I came down the hudson with Luckydog and we made the statue around 1030. I had a problem with one of the carbs on my Yamaha and was able to make 3500 rpm max. The kicker worked really well. A special thanks to Josh (Luckydog) and his wife for sticking around and making sure my son and I got back ok. Can't wait for the next trip.

Thanks everyone who came and everyone who made this happen. It was great to meet a few fellow Whaler owners while experiencing something new to me. That was my first up close look at the Statue of Liberty and my first time around Manhattan by boat. I never put that many miles on my boat in one day before either.
Even though many of us had a few setbacks (fog and GPS died for me), it all came together very well.
I'm in next time too.

Greetings, all.
Congratulations!
You were all a great site to see!
I snapped a few photos of "The Convoy" moving up river at 11:10 AM today. I took the shots from the 28th floor of the Harborside Financial Center in Jersey City, N.J. Unfortulately, with all the haze and smog, visibility was pretty bad (as you saw first-hand).
There is one pretty good shot with the American Flag in the foreground (hopefully posted here). I have additional photos which I would be glad to send to any of you if you wish. Was that an '86 25' Revenge with blue canvas bringing up the rear of the group? If not, it looked like somebody with a whaler was trying to catch up to you all.
Congratulations to all once more! Sorry we could not make it (next time, for sure).

Joe, that was no 1986 25' Revenge, that was the biggest 1987 20' Revenge there is proving that if you have twin engines and one isn't working at the dock, YOU STILL GO! We had seven people and could only make about 15 MPH, we found the problem was a defective spark plug over lunch, had spares, but the group was gone. Yiger's Coastie flyby was awsome, and we still had a great time. If you have a picture of the little boat that could, send it to jackmack@ptd.net , Thank You!....Jack
Jim, thanks for having us!
