Cleaning and oiling teak...trying to get black mold stains off. So far tried Amazon one-step cleaner as well as a mixture of 1 part bleach to 5 parts water...we'll see.

For safety concerns, added a turnbuckle/eyebolt to replace the flimsy wich post chain.

A broken Teleflex steering cable prompted a lifting of the deck on my 1983 Revenge 22. By the time I was done:
two new steering cables
new bilge float switch
new wiring to bilge pump, was in rigging tunnel
new wiring to main circuit breaker from battery, was in rigging tunnel
two new bayonet style Scotty electrical hookups
new fuel line to motor
and last but certainly not the least, fuel tank removal with new tank installed
Happy 30Th birthday Revenge, boy am I tired of working on you. Let's hope everything I replaced lasts another 30 years.

Replaced trim seals on my 1999 70 hp Yamaha. I made a tool for removing the trim ram seal caps out of a socket that worked well. I probably will not need it again for more than a few years so if anyone wants to borrow it, let me know.
Also I found out through research on these forums that a Yamaha, around my year and horsepower will not send power to the coil until a certain rpm parameter is met, I think it is 330 rpm. My motor would be an embarrassment to crank on the ramp but once on the water would crank like a new one the rest of the day. I found my battery to be the culprit. At the ramp, the boat has set for days or weeks without being run, so the battery hasn't has a charge put to it, but run it across the harbor, and it gets a good charging. So if you having the same problem, check your battery and cables, because they will cause the starter to not spin fast enough, therefore no spark, and no crank.

Put the first coats of varnish on the mahogany cooler cleats and the Fly Top mounting blocks (Interlux Schooner Gold...man that's thick stuff!). Could not believe the grime behind the mounting blocks when they were removed, had not been cleaned in it's 35 years I'm sure! Removing, sanding and applying the first coats on the console cleats tomorrow.

Took our 1984 18 ft Outrage out on seatrials today after a 1 1/2 yr restoration. Mostly due to $$$$$$. I got our 130 hp E-tec up to 38 mph (GPS) @ 5700 rpm. I had throttle left but was (@ the time) worried I would over rev the motor and water conditions. Now I understand the throttle over rev would have prevented that. But the boat ran great, there was a good chop on the water due to gusting wind and a lot of boat traffic due to an aircraft carrier coming home (thank you to all of our military). I had a 1980 17 ft Montauk and I have to say for what I do, the Outrabe is my final boat. It's a dream. Thanks to Whaler Cental for all the knowledge I gleamed here and to those who responded to my questions.

Started to remove my rub rail for my new replacement. Drilling out what seems to be a million rivets that hold the rub rail on. Sanding and varnishing the teak on the gunnels prior to reinstalling the rub rail.

Changed out props from 14 3/4 x 17 to 14 3/4 x 18. Will test pretty soon. Installed new wind screen so the old original one will go to someone who will need it .

Reworked the worn out tilt section of my Magic Tilt trailer. Drilled and hard bolted the entire tilt section together. Much better now.

Greased both engines Sunday. Checked the gearcase lube level (ok). Removed the propeller to check for fishing line on the prop shaft (ok). Still need to replace the external fuel filter and the oil filter. I will do that in the next two weeks, before the salmon opener on the Washington coast the 8th of June.
An update on our bottom fishing trip...we caught a few rock fish and lingcod. It would have been better to catch a few more. But, a good time was had by all...that's all that really matters.

New hubs and bearings on a 20-year-old Calkins trailer for my 16 SL. The bearings were actually fine, but the hubs were seriously rusting away.

My wife and I pulled the Dauntless out of the harbor to check on the underneath after it being in the harbor dockside for 10 weeks. Only had to scrape and brush the buildup on the rear of the transom and around the engine mounts and transducer. Wasnt too bad..the bottom paint is doing its job..back in the ocean now til end of August..happy cruising !
