I know you guys have been really tolerant of my wining about the weather all winter long. Just yesterday I considered posting a thread on the subject of spring arriving in Maine with a few days of temperatures in the 40-45 range. The snow has almost all melted. I can see grass again. I had forgotten how wide the roads are without the banks. No plow trucks bombing down the street. Ahhhh!

I have been thinking it is time to put away the snow blower, change from the winter frame and tarp to the summer tarp.

I just looked at the weather forecast to plan on boat projects this weekend. Guess what? Winter Storm Warning for Friday. 4-8". Oh (*&^%. Are you kidding me? I am so not into this.

cf: http://www.wunderground.com/US/ME/024...4.html#WIN

I promise this is my last rant about snow. Then again....maybe not. That groundhog is dead meat!

Sad

CBO,
I live in Rochester, NY! I share your pain brother. My winter projects have been to restore a 1977 Montauk and a side project has been to site in my .243 Winchester varmint rifle. Please allow me. Next year, when Punksitawnee Phil pops out, BAM! I'm dead on at 300 yards. I have already planned a vacation day to travel to Pa.Grin

I was just speaking to Henry (Yiddle) and my friend Jim D both in the Chesapeake Area and it was sunny and upper 60's there. What CRAP. It is snowing here in Detroit right now with 3 - 6 inches expected through tomorrow. The older I get the more I hate the winter (and crappy spring) weather. Honestly I can not remember the last time winter stuck around so late. Then again I am only 31 Grin.

Well we try to make the best of it.....

Fun with AWD

Sux to be you guys. It was 84 degrees here in North Texas today. I've been taking my boat out at least once a month all winter long. Hate to rub it in but I am going fishing again this Sunday....in my Whaler. Grin Last Saturday I caught an 18 inch Catfish.

So far "Spring" is winning here on Long Island, this year I hope to take "Junior" (5) in search of some "Monster" Blue fish, and Striped Bass in the back Bays, he caught a Blue Crab last year and was quite excited about it. I told him "No, it get's better than this". He saw a 17' sport in someone's driveway the other day, "Look Dad, a Boston Whaler", he's really turning into a little "Whaler Kid", and has the "T-shirt" to prove it ! "Marcy" is still only 8 month's old but, may be taking her first ride up and down the little creek next summer, I can't wait. "Whaler Brats" !

This has been a mild winter on Long Island. I'm used to the Detroit winters and was there last weekend. Still snow everywhere. Shock
My boat will be in the water soon. I'm looking forward to some fishing too.
I tried a few times last year but didn't catch any. Well, I got a sting ray (they call them something else in this coast). I'm raedy to go at it again this year. I've fished many years, but fishing these inlets is a whole new game for me.

Grady....
Put the gun down......
You'll be able to put the snowblower away any week now....
Just think...you've used more fuel in your snowblower...than you used in the boat!
It'll be 45 degrees there soon.....Angry

Yep, It was fun talking with you Jeff, made my whole day!

But I have to say I feel for the horrible weather you guys put up with up their all winter long. As I told Jeff, I'm only out of the water 90 days, and that makes me crazy and the weather isn't that bad in the winter here...not like you guys up north!Ken also(ontario) but I just could not do all that!

Today and yesterday it was high 70's here in the Northern Neck,. What was I doing...you bet cha, I was washing and waxing the Whalers. Got them both worked up pretty good, finally got to see the seat back I got for the leaning post was gorgeous, and the CC door hing scews/barrel nuts fit perfectly, thanks to sue. Got the both whalers done in two days.

All I have left is get the Yamaha Wave Raider done and thats an easy one because of size...some times its nice to do 60mphSmile)on the waterSmile

Looks like I will be whalering by April 1Smile

I hope you all get better weather, or you consider a move to warmer climatesSmile

Henry - You know I love ya like a whaler brother but for god's sake, I am not wasting my time to wax. April 1? If it was me living there, I would be on the water all year long.

Jeff - Yeah, you got that right!

I hear you all have more on the way this weekend as wellSad Sorry to see that Jeff...

All year long boating would be nice, as I have the canvas, but I need a break for what I think is cold weather here starting in mid DEc, and ending by April....By mid march. Gets pretty brisk in the DelMarVa during winter. Towards the beginning of spring I get a bit antsy but its okay compared to what some of you go through.
Although the wind is a bit tricky during this time of the year. Ive been boating on the potomac now for like 25 years, I try and be a fair weatherboater unless I get stuck in it by accident. Potomac is 4-7 miles wide in some areas and can be a real evil girl in some weather patterns.

I have a dream every so often of taking Das BOat out in a fluffy snow....no rush guysSmile)

It was 55 today but sunny and so I still managed to get the Jetski worked up and got all the batteries charged for the spring launchings.

in I could be in the water in no time at all. Lets hope spring catches up to you all soonSmile

Henry

I usually ply the waters in the back Bays of Oceanside, Baldwin, Freeport, East Rockaway, (west end Bay's of Long Island). Give me a "Holler", we monitor Ch. 16 at all times.

Wow, you guys are really making me enjoy where i live! Had my family here since Weds, took the Whaler out several times, and played golf the majority of the vacation, in shorts of course and one of my nephews enjoyed swimming in the canals. Grin. Will be posting a message shortly appropriately titled, "Whaler Tale" after i finish this thread to tell the tale of one of those trips. In the mid 80's here, and since my lady friend asked me to change the battery out of her car this morning, i kinda rushed it to keep the car in the shade till i was finished so i wouldn't start sweating. Pfft Now that the family is gone, will concentrate on the Texas round up, so Bob, lets talk about your arrival next week!

Duf, the weather was fantastic here in North Texas over the weekend as well. Though the summers are blistering hot up here, the mild winters make up for it. Also, I have used my Whaler at least once in every month so far...not too bad huh?

See you in less than two months!!

Sounds good CES! Bob and i are meeting here this weekend to make plans for where we will breach the beach and cruise. I will head to the local POA (Padre Island Owners Ass, to make the necessary arrangements to have all the out of town boat, vehicle and trailers utilize the ramps. As soon as we have an approximate number of visitors, i plan on canvasing the local hotels and see if i can get a group rate. Being Memorial weekend, its usually more expensive, but i'll see what i can do.
