OK... I gotta say it: did anyone else notice that great 15' Boston Whaler Sport the two were stranded on in the latest edition of the Discovery Channel's Man, Woman & Wild? The whole show I kept thinking what a great choice of boat they made to get lost @ sea in... and the perfect brand of motor to crap out, a Nissan!!!

Well, I won't get into the details of how they used the water trapped in the Whaler's anchor locker... but I will say they did NOT drink it. Honestly, its the last thing on earth I'd think to do with bilge water, but - hey man, to each his own. Its my new favorite tv show now - because the show's writers knew enough about Boston Whalers to focus on 2 attributes they're so famous for:
1.) their really cool B.W. Sport is unsinkable!
2.) they used the infamous Whaler hull-water in a most creative manner!

I saw the show and it was very well made and I thought most informative.........Saw nothing filthy about it, in fact I learned something I never knew and hope I never need to depend on.

I did notice the whaler in the commercials, as for the rest Bear Grylls did it first. My problem is that the show is just the latest "reality TV" that's not really real. They are all bad copies of Survivorman by Les Stroud who was really alone in the wilderness. His support crew were really miles away and his only communication was a phone that didn't always work. his only issue, he never go stranded in a whaler.

I didn't find that clip entertaining at all. Maybe that's why I never watch tv. Most of what you see is crap (no pun intended) to say the least.

I really did enjoy his show. Just realizing the difficulty he faces just to get the shots all by himself is amazing.

Once they were safe did the reuse the enema/fuel hose for the fuel supply again?

Innovative but somehow unrealistic..
I could think of a thousand things to do in this situation.
An enema with a fuel hose would not be an option that I would consider.

just leave the gas tank vented for awhile and you'll have some water. Just kidding, I had to say it since that topic has been beat to death but doesn't go away.

Actually, there are lots of cases of survival where tainted or otherwise undrinkable water can be used to hydrate the human body through enemas...In fact, there was a whole family stranded on an island with no fresh water who survived with daily enemas. "THE MAN" Les Stroud even mentions it in one of his episodes.

Still a very distasteful topic on this site regardless if the water was captured in a whaler or not.

Survival isn't about being courteous or pleasant. The technique may seem odd or even distasteful but its a commonly taught method for many with formal survival training.

I think one has to view the content as a subject that is informative and educational and not something that is distasteful. I think most on this site are adults and can view the positives of the post

Did not know that worked...I don't plan on giving it a try but will keep it in mind. What was wrong with the water in the front hatch?

I didn't and wouldn't watch that show or any other reality show, and there is nothing else to watch except reruns of Seinfeld. John said it best ;

TV is moronic but thats the way humanity is going. Have you checked out some of the folks at Walmart lately?

BTW I did like Survivorman. I believe it was real. But to increase the popularity of the show, he should have had a woman partner and they could have bickered all the time about how they were going to get out of the situation they were in.

Speaking of Walmart if your bored with TV (and who isn't) print out this Walmart bingo card for yourself and a couple of friends and head off to Walmart:

I can just see in my mind's eye the 20 something producer (who can also walk on water) sitting in the camera boat with her little clipboard saying "can we do that again but make 'Bottom' sound a little bit more British?"

The 2010 32' Outrage support boat with emergency cocktails ready for the actors was waiting just off camera.

For some really jaw dropping and real survival tales - I recommend reading ....
1. "Unbroken" - (Hillenbrand)
2. "Lost in Shangri-La" - (Zuckoff)

Time better spent than with this staged and scripted - (with a british accent) ... "RUBBISH".

Nothing "reality" about it.

The boat featured on the clip is a 13ft Super Sport Limited.....the same as my 1991.

Given all that is said about "reality shows" being unreal, I hope to god that the producer did not take a perfect Super Sport Limited and rip out the seats, windshields and rails to come up with the sorry boat on the show.

If that is what they did, it would be a crime for sure.
