FAQ: Motor Drive Descriptions
Different Types of Motor Drives
 
Inboard (IB) = Motor and drive mounted on the inside of the boat.

Outboard (OB) = Motor mounted on the top of the transom outside of boat.

Inboard/Outboard (I/O) = Motor mounted on the inside and the drive mounted on the outside of the transom.
(also known as Stern Drive)

Sea Drive (SD) = Motor mounted on outside of transom on its own built in bracket assembly.

Whaler Drive (WD) = Traditional Whaler Drive is a floatation bracket mounted on the outside of the transom where Outboard motor(s) would be mounted.
