Hi Bob, I just purchased a DSC capable VHF from Jamestown, but it's backordered until next week. When I get it I'll take a look and let you know if you don't have an answer by then.

Bob,
I am guessing that you just need to hook up the NME183 network so the VHF can get position from your GPS.
On your garmin NMEA Out is the Blue wire, connect that to the Blue wire on the Phantom. You can either connect the Green wire on the Phantom to the ground or connect it to Brown wire on the garmin. Don't forget to set NMEA183 in/out on the garmin.

Thanks Dave . Seems like a neat option for us guys that often are out there solo at times .

The wire gauge is EXTREMELY light. 1-2 copper strands. When using crimp connectors, a standard crimping tool would not even bite. You really need to use a set of electrical pliers or some vice-grips to really flatten the connector.

I rewired my Standard Horizon GPS with a simple terminal block from my local Radio Shack store. Seems to be working fine and will soon be wiring the DSC to my ICOM M604 VHF the same way. I will be rewiring the entire boat and cleaning things up this winter as soon as I get done fishing for Kings.
