My bottom paint has deteriorated over the years and its time to reapply. Whats the best method for doing so? Here is what I am working with and the paint I will use:

If you are trying to get "IN" the water this season, I would buy a small fresh can of "Interlux Ablative bottom paint for fiberglass planing hulls" follow the "tape line" already on the boat with masking tape, tape off the trailer well with newspaper, drop cloth. Use a small roller and a small brush to get tight spots on the Hull. You may have to jack the boat up a bit paint the "Bunk" area's where it meets the Hull, or slide the hull back on the trailer to get to the area. You will need "Anti-fouling" bottom paint ONLY if you leave the boat in the water for extended periods of time.

Well I have some of the micron stuff already so I figured I might as well use that. Some times the boat will stay in the water for a week or so but not too often. Mostly going for looks and this is what I have. Do I need to sand?

You can give it a light sand (just a "tooth" for the new paint), and scrape the trouble spots, or it will even paint right over the old stuff (unless it's flaking off), depend's on the condition of the previous bottom paint. New paint can go over some pretty rough surfaces and still stick. If you're going to do some sanding, I would wear a "particle mask", the old stuff's nasty, and the fine powder (which has poison's and herbicides in it) can be easily inhaled.

I run a putty knife or painters knife over the loose areas quickly then sand anything that needs it. Then I wipe down the hull with acetone to clean it, then I use micron csc like you have there. The csc is good for in and out of the water use. Tape the water line as directed above and cover anything you dont want drips on.

Is the Micron CSC what's on there already? If so, just a light surface sanding, washdown with paint thinner to get the dust off, recoat should do it. If another paint is on there, you'll need to figure out what it is, because not all paints are compatible. Worst case, you'll need to sand off most of the old and reapply a barrier coat.

Also, you might just want to check the paint company's site for recommendations - I did that a few weeks back, to double check the process, and found a stealth rebate too for my trouble.
