Can any one give some advise to a new guy. I looked at a 1970's 13 ft with a lot of damage. The transom and bottom and sides of the boat look and feel sturdy. The scary thing about the boat is the deck has saw holes on it. It looks as if someone was trying to dry the inside of the boat. Has anyone heard of any one doing this. I felt inside the boat and the foam felt dry. Note I could only checked one small area of the boat. Any advise. I can attach pictures if I did not explain this very good.
Don't be in a hurry to buy the first boat you see. If this one isn't exactly what you want, wait until one that you do want comes along. You will know when YOUR boat is meant for you to buy. If you think you can save money by buying a "fixer upper" think again, it will end up costing you the same amount of $$ if you were to buy a fixer upper or a turn-key ready to go boat.
Have patience.

Thanks CES I would like a fixer upper. Reading in WC there seems to be a lot of boats with water in them. I guess this is another way to help dry your boat. I would not do it. What would you suggest to repair the saw openings. People say Gorilla Glue or an apoxy.
