Member Personal Page Posts: 252 Comments: 0 Joined: 08/26/08	It's a 13, right? You don't need tank hold downs if you put them behind the seat. That's the smoothest riding place in the boat. Just throw some rubber mats underneath to protect the floor. For the battery, I wonder if you can put it in a battery box under the seat and use a strap around the box and seat both? Otherwise you might have to find a friend to anchor it to the floor somewhere.

Lift the buckle and it comes apart. Definitely not like those plastic buckles that come with most battery boxes. Member Posts: 1925 Comments: 16 Joined: 05/02/08	Here is Boston Whalers recommended battery installation from the beginning days of 1958 until about 1993. It shows the famous Boston Whaler desert tan color battery box, but no longer available, unfortunately. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v42...G_0357.jpg. In this recently done installation in a 1975 Outrage 19, the strap is the Kev-Lok unit Joe indicates. The strap is secured to the deck (in Whaler's indicated area where there is wood blocking under the glass - important!) by a pair of 1" SS "Footman's Loops", available at "Strapworks.com." Kev-Lok sells the straps directly over the web also. To avoid marring up the smooth gelcoat floor under the battery (dirt gets caught under it and works like sandpaper) I set the batt box on a section of "Dri-Decking". Works very well, and water can be flushed under it to get rid of dirt. I would recommend "Dry-Deck" under fuel tanks also if Whaler mats are not available, and Moeller makes a tank hold down kit. But I think Kev-Lok also sells an excellent tank hold down strap, which would be preferred. You would probably need those Footman's Loops also for the fuel tank(s).

Hook and loop kind of affair? I know I've seen heavy duty bungie cords with a big rubber "pull tab" on the end. Just can't remember where. That would make it a one-handed job. (Can I say that on this forum? ) I like these guys' ideas for making it stock the best, if you can figure a way to make it work for you. Edited by theo on 05/05/09 - 7:40 AM
