Bottom painting

Member Posts: 7 Comments: 0 Joined: 05/03/09	I just bought my Whaler. It is 13 ft Supersport and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to go about repainting the bottom. Can I do it on the trailer or do I have to flip it over? I would be grateful if someone could give me some direction.

Member Personal Page Posts: 1827 Comments: 10 Joined: 01/08/06	If it's your 1st time I would tape off the trailer well w/ newspaper, drop cloth, and do it on the trailer, follow the line that's there with "Painter's tape". If someone can dip and hand you a small "Roller" while you are under the boat it makes the job easier. I use "Interlux" ACT ablative (wears off during the season) bottom paint. Matt

Member Personal Page Posts: 1827 Comments: 10 Joined: 01/08/06	Only if you keep your boat in salt water (moored/docked), will you will need anti-fouling Bottom paint. If you take it out of the water during the winter you will have to re-apply "Bottom paint" in the spring before you moor/dock it again for the season. Matt
