I am refurbishing a 1987 20' outrage. I has a 225 evinrude ficht which seems to make it bit heavy on the stearn. I have purchased a todd deluxe console, a new t top, and a new leaning post. The console is 43" long including the forward seat/livewell. I'm wandering how far forward to mount the console, t top etc. to maximise the boat's overall peformance/fishability. It seems that the boat performs best when on plane and only with a full handfull of throttle! I was hopeing that adjusting the console mounting place, or placeing it properly, would allow me to plane out and ride more comfortably at lower speeds. It seems as if there is too much weight in the back of the boat. The current console configuration is not stock , so I don't where to start. Can anybody help with this dilema?

The further back the operator stands the more comfortable the ride.
The further forward the operator might need a kidney belt and a mouthpiece to save their teeth.

The standard configuration is to have a cooler in front of the console which also doubles as a seat and then the console.

Lots of 20' and 22' Outrages in the personal page section.
Take a look thru the personal page section by length.

Here are photos of my prior 1989 Outrage 20'.

I have an 18 and i moved my console up about a foot to give more room in the Stern area. Still rides beautifully but I am sure there is a point that the ride can degrade. Does make the boat sit a little more level. I am going with a 200 Johnson this year over a 140 which adds some weight. I think there is a pic in my profile that shows how it sits. If you look at the old waterline stripe you can see it sits a little more level.

Maybe it's just me, but the original location of the console on the 20's seems too far back. I've read a lot, and heard first-hand that 20's are hard to get trimmed - even with trim tabs, and weight moved around. If it were mine, I would definitely skew a bit forward, leaving just enough room to walk around.
