The wiring to both bow lights is rotten and needs to be replaced. Curious as to the best way to do this. The wires disappear on either side into the gunwhale and go forward to the bow lights. Tried to see if I could pull thru new wires using the old ones, but they are locked down somewhere. Do they run behing the rub rail? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

What year and model Outrage?

The wiring on the Classic models only goes out the Starboard side and then under the rub rail to the bow lights.

It's an '83 - 18'. It looks like it goes both ways. (It has separate lights.) If it uder the rub rail then all I need to do is remove the rail and go from there?

It goes through the starboard side ONLY.

And then goes forward to the starboard light, around the bow and to the port light.

Why do you think yours goes both ways? A wire out the port side and a wire out the starboard side?

I'll double check when I get the boat out of storage, but my recollection was there were 2 wires going through the wholw in the deck and that come up in the cowlings on either side.

The easiest way to check is to carefully remove the black rub rail insert near the starboard bow light. Remove a couple of feet of the black rub rail.
If the wire stops at that light and does not continue forward, then you are correct.
If the wire continues forward, then it is going around to the port light.

I have had 4 classic Outrages that were wired as I mentioned. From 1985 Outrage 18' to 1989 Outrage 22' Cuddy.

Can you pry out what you need or do you have to take it all off to gain the access? I really appreciate you help.

As long as I am on this, another project is to put a cover over the splash well that drains the cockpit at the starboard stern corner. It was missing when I purchased the boat. Is it hinged or or fastened in some other way?

You can pry out what you need if you park the boat in the sun to warm up the rub rail.

The sump pump cover is located in the downloads section.
The Outrage 18' has no hinges, it just sits over the hole.
It's called the "Outrage 18' Sump Cover"...

Outstanding. Does anything keep the sump cover from blowing away when the boat is trailered? I though I could add hinges to keep it in place but accessible.

Another project is to covert the full tie down boat cover to a snap cover and have it snap to the underside of the rub rail. Do you think that will work?
