What is the easiest way to remove REALLY sticky stickers from Gelcoat? I tried using a hair dryer, did not get hot enough. Someone told me to use "easyoff". Not sure I want to try that.

Harley -

Did you let the hairdryer (high setting) stay blowing on the corner of the sticker for 2-3 mins before working it? Once you get the corner, angle the dryer so it is blowing into the edge.

If cool outside, just takes longer for it to get through the vinyl and warm the glue. I did mine when it was 40 degrees and shady. Took about 25 minutes for each side, including cleaning residue off with goof-off.

Just not a fan of chemicals.

Thanks Phil, just needed a better hair dryer. The one I was using was kinda dead.

I used an inexpensive TrueValue heat gun. It worked nicely.

Besides using a heat gun, you can purchase adhesive remover from a local sign supply company. Rapid Tac is one type. Works better than goof off. Basically, it's what professional sign companies use. Fairly inexpensive.
Good luck

I use 100% silicone spray, melt's it like Butter, you'll need to wash/rinse the area well after removing, and use a little "Bon-Ami" cleaner (clears silicone residue), if you want to re-apply a decal in the same area. To Re-apply decal's "straight", wet entire area with a spray bottle solution of 1 tsp "Dawn' dishwashing detergent and cool water. spray finger tip's and hands well with soapy solution, peel and spray back of decal with solution, apply Decal to hull, if it's not straight, slide it, and move it until it is "Straight" let dry over night.

Will any method leave the decal intact? I need to remove the decals from my outboard and would lilke to scan them and have them reproduced.

If you can down load the image from somewhere, and send it to a good print/Graphics shop, they can reproduce ANYTHING.
