Does any manufacturer make these anymore? The brains just bolted out of the way under console, and a simple hard wired waterproof speaker/mic controlled every function, including on/off. Cheap, simple, out of the way small. Seems the only way to duplicate this is with a wireless mic Commandic type system. Overkill.

I have a VHF inside the console with a ram-mic on the console front, you can see it on personal page.

As many know, Standard Horizon manufactured the PS 1000 and 2000 models that were truly "black box" units for a few years. All controls were on a "command " microphone.

These black box units were very unique in the marketplace. Many owners of center console boats preferred the black box style to eliminate a large hole being cut in their console.

Standard Horizon changed their product strategy, eliminated the PS 1000 and 2000 and added the remote command mic as an option to practically all it's standard radios. The mic option adds ~$100 to the cost.

I have not found any replacement to the PS 1000/2000.

Garmin makes a GH510 handset that remotes (wired) to a VHF 200 radio West Marine # 10257780

RAM Remote Access Microphone made by Standard Horizon sold by iboats.com.
Part # 16547 White #16548 Black
Also a second station mic, so can use elsewhere, like a flybridge location.

Thank You, Phil T. for your knowledge. Agree: nothing replaces those black box radios easily for a small boat. I had to hear it from somebody else that such units are no longer available. I actually have the RAM unit on a larger boat. Now the RAM mic holster/charger had to be dealt with and wired.
