With GPS, I didn't want to bother repairing my original OMC speedometer. Being original, I had left it in place, but the glass has since been broken.
Someday I'll probably be putting in new aluminum panels to mount the gauges that accompany an Etec, but until then...
Anyone have an old 80's OMC speedo they don't want anymore?
Otherwise - What have you all done to fill old gauge holes?

Matt,
What series of OMC gauges do you have on your boat now?
Here is a basic list of most OMC gauges in the past.

My tach and speedo look like those 2 on the bottom of that first "Traditional"page.

I just looked at your personal page and you do indeed have the Traditional series gauges.
1. Tachometer
2. Speedometer
Maybe someone here as a spare Traditional series speedometer. I sold all mine awhile back when I changed all mine to the newer Tech series gauges that are shown on the same link I gave above.

Matt -
-tape over the glass with electrical tape.
-Visit a hardware store and get a grommet (like hole for cables in a desk)
-Replace the panel

Hey Matt. I just took out a 0-85 MPH black faced speedo out of my boat. It doesn't have OMC on it but it looks almost exactly the same. It works fine but I wanted a speedo that would show my speed in the 35mph range better so I got a 0-55 mph speedo.
I'll let you have mine for $10 + shipping if you want.

If its a hole in the metal dash plate, buy a new dash plate from Sue at Twin City.

If you take a look at my personal page you'll see where I replaced my dash panel w/a piece of black starboard and installed my gages. Came out w/a neat, professional look.

The previous owner of my boat mounted the VHF on the console, he left me a beautiful (approx.) 1/2" hole to stare at where the "PL-259" ant. plug passed through. Over the years I put an "Incandescent" panel light over it and hooked it up to the bilge, the light would last a week then blow forcing me to give up. The new 12V "L.E.D" panel light's with leads (Radio shack) won't "blow" (low current draw too), I "Fabricated" the fit by drilling through a 1/2" piece of hardwood "Dowel" slowly by increasing drill bit size with every "Pass" until the Red "LED" fit in, I siliconed it in through a large S/S finishing washer (cover's the dowel), I "Beveled" the dowel w/sandpaper for a tight friction fit and siliconed that in the hole on the console. I soldered "Quick Connect" insulated Male/Female terminal connectors to the leads, so that when it's time to refinish the console "unhooking" is "EASY", and the light can removed or just siliconed back in place. I did'nt just cover the hole, I wanted it to be functional. I like it because, from a distance, I can spot if the bilge working at night in the rain at the dock. Just a thought if you can't get the guages.

Matt, are you interested in this speedometer? If not, please let me know so I can sell it to somebody else.
