I found a deal on a 50hp honda 4 stroke today,I checked and it is the same motor as a 40hp,{same weight} has any one put on one of these,and how did they perform,I am converting this boat to a center console and and moving everything 6 inches forward and putiing the gas tank and battery in the console,thanks in advance Doug.

Hi Doug,

Just so you don't get ignored here, I'm not sure if anyone has that motor on the back of their 13'.

Check out the personal pages by "Length" and see if you find any members with that engine.

If it has power trim you should be all right, just take her easy. That's a whole lotta hp for a 13' boat. I'm sure there are naysayers out there, but you don't have to use all 50 hp right? I replaced my 2 stroke 40 (no power trim) with a 40 4 stroke with trim. To me it makes a world of difference as far as the handling at higher speeds.

My neighboor has a 1989 13' with a 50 hp Honda 4 stroke w/ tilt. We are taking it off and going lighter. The boat is stern heavy and he's got lead in the bow box. Tilted all the way up the skeg is still in the water a bit. Way way fast, so fast in fact it never gets close to full throtle.
