Hi,
I have a 105 Johnson on my MOntauk 17' and the rev counterfor it is in a bad way, i was hoping to replace it, but don;t know if the rev counter must be the same brand as the engine or if a generic brand would do?, i know it seems like a dumb question but any help would be appreciated.
I think you are referring to a Tachometer. It should be acceptable for the outboard you have. Most standard ones from a marine store will work.
On the back is a switch for the number of cylinders your engine has. Make sure it is in the correct position. The wires are color coded, read the instructions for proper hook up.
