Hello to all,
I have a question for everyone. I have a 1991 yamaha 115 and it needs a trim swicth on the binical control and a new oil tank (2.8 gal.) The yamaha dealer wants 340 and change for these 2 items. Is there a cheaper place to get this and I know parts can be expensive but this is crazy. Thanks for any help

do you e bay? I see a brand new oil tank kit on there for 155 bucks. There are also a couple of used ones with bids on them.

Do you have 704 binnacle mount throttle?

Have you already tested the switch to make sure that is the problem?

Give Flounder Pounder Marine a phone call and ask them if they have a used handle or binnacle. Could be cheaper to replace the entire unit.

Another option if the problem is the switch is to have a Yamaha dealer's parts department order you just the switch. If your dealer does not want to do it, I can give you the names of a few who will.

To disassemble the handle see the 704 manual on my website (click on my name to get the link).

The switch should look something like this (taken from expire ebay auction listing)

Thanks guys I will check ebay. The dealer wants 100 bucks just for the switch. I might try to get a new control because the on I have looks bad.

Gentry -

I just stopped by my Whaler dealer (Yamaha dealer too) and asked the Parts Manager the price for the switch and harness. He looked it up and came back with $53.00.

If you decide to get the switch, contact Reid Jones @ Port Harbor Marine. (207) 767-3254.

He is great in getting any Whaler or Yamaha part for me.

Thanks for the help. Put in a new switch and it works like new again. Found one for $60.
